2 designers: Daniel Black and Martin Blum = black+blum

black+blum will be launching three new products for the start of 2008.

‘Salad Plant’ is a salad servers and pot set. The grass-green servers and a terracotta colour pot are both made from Melamine. The design marries good design and function with affordability – the trademark of all black+blum products. The pot can be used to prepare and serve the salad dressing, and when not being utilised the pot is used to store the servers on the kitchen worktop. With the ‘salad plant’ black+blum have injected value into an everyday object, designing it with care for maximum pleasure to look at and use.

‘Fruit Loop’ is a wire fruit bowl that starts as a single piece of chromed steel that is over 3 metres in length. The continuous piece of wire is interwoven to create a cradle for the fruit. The design is very sculptural and looks completely random in its form but its design has been carefully thought out and features the same qualities as the popular loop candelabra design. It also has the ability to look as good when filled with fruit as it does when containing just one apple.

‘Lean on Me’ is a vase made from Borosilca glass with invisible joins. It consists of three glass tubes that lean against one another. Its slender geometric form draws the attention to the flowers that it holds. Each tube is suitable for holding 2 standard rose stems. The vase can be displayed individually or a several can be placed in a line for a more dramatic effect.

These three new products will make their debut at the Spring Fair, (3 – 7 February 2008, NEC Birmingham) in the ‘Summer House’  - an area that the Spring Fair has dedicated to a group of 30 contemporary gift and lifestyle companies. 2008 will be the first time that black+blum have returned to the NEC since they last exhibited there two years ago.

Dan Black and Martin Blum formed black+blum in 1998 and have since built up an enviable brand reputation. Based in London’s Oxo Tower they run their successful design consultancy alongside developing their own product collection. black+blum’s product are available nationwide and internationally through number of prestigious retail outlets or direct from their studio in the Oxo Tower.
