Jocelyn Warner will be launching a new body of wallpaper and lighting designs entitled the ‘Garden Collection’ and two new rug designs ‘Orchid’ and ‘Leaf’.

Garden Collection
The launch of the Garden Collection at 100% Design 2008 marks the start of a new body of work by acclaimed wallpaper designer Jocelyn Warner. The collection, that will be added to over time, is a continuation from Jocelyn’s other botanical designs such as Leaf, Lily, Flora and Kew, all of which carry her design hallmark – contemporary larger-than-life botanical themes. With her studies and notes of nature as a starting point,
Jocelyn translates those simple elements into designs led wallpapers that are something unique and special rather than mass-produced. Jocelyn along with many of her contemporaries are taking the traditional English craft of wallpaper design forward into the 21st century whilst still applying historical reference in the design, detail and production. The result is a product that offers much more than just surface pattern. Both designs are also new additions to the Jocelyn Warner Lighting Collection as a range of Treetops and Poppy lampshades and pendants.

The Robinia tree that grows in Jocelyn’s own garden inspired ‘Tree Tops’. The design portrays a view that is seen through the branches. Gentle falling leaves, that are so characteristic of this tree, produce an intricate and delicate veil of foliage. The pallet of sensitively chosen colours creates super-cool sophisticated prints. Each carefully considered colour for the range gives an individual ambience to the design. ‘Mole’ has warm earthy qualities with bronzes and browns that are interspersed with highlights of silver. ‘Blue’ is a soft sky blue with warm browns and creams. ‘Silver Grey’ is a modern foil paper that has delicate off-white leaves outlined in soft greys. A neutral colour option is ‘Birch’ which features creams, camel and soft gold.

‘Poppy’ is a fashion inspired print with a reference to the 1950’s. Botanical follies the size of small dinner plates take centre stage in this design creating a bold and beautiful wallpaper. New to the market foils have been applied to some of the colourways in this range taking this design to another level. ‘Gilded’ is a colourway that incorporates black, golds and soft greys to a dramatic effect. ‘Viola’ is a complete contrast in comparison with purples and mauves giving a fresh and youthful feel to the design. ‘Foil’ features elegant shades of soft creams against a background of silver foil. ‘Parchment’ is the neutral offering with soft shades of cream, gold and green. ‘Dove’ is modern yet soft with gentle blue-greys.

All wallpapers in the Garden Collection are printed on non–woven papers. Non-wovens are part of the new technological advancements happening in wallpaper manufacturing at the moment. They allow for ‘paste the wall installation’, which reduces the hanging time down to half, as there is no absorbing time to allow for as the paper is hung from a dry roll. The task of papering a wall is now considerably less hazardous. No longer is the decorator walking around with wet wallpaper, so it is less likely to rip and crease and it is all round much easier to cut and trim.

Orchid & Leaf
Following the overwhelming success of the ‘Bloom’ rug, Jocelyn’s debut rug launched a year ago at 100% design 2007, Orchid and Leaf are joining the Jocelyn Warner rug portfolio. Both designs are in keeping with the botanical theme that is underlying in all of Jocelyn Warner’s designs. Orchid features a circular view of an enlarged orchid
stem. Abstract lines form the outlines of delicate petals that drape across the canvas. A sophisticated colour palette of muted grey in various tones, sit with taupe, mushroom, cream and black creating a design with dramatic graphic impact yet capturing the fragile qualities of its subject.
Leaf is a design dominated by large-scale branches and leaves that form graceful vertical stripes. The design suggests an autumn season with the leaves shades of taupe and soft greys. The colours and shapely form of the leaves produces a rug that makes a subtle contemporary design statement.
